Labs Engineer - Jetpack

Job Type: Full-Time
We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineer to help design and develop the underlying technology framework for Mozilla Labs' experiments, with an initial focus on the Jetpack project.
Mozilla Labs is a virtual community where people come together online to create, experiment and play with Web innovations for the public benefit.
Jetpack is a newly formed experiment in using Open Web technologies to enhance the browser, with the goal of allowing anyone who can build a Web site to participate in making the Web a better place to work, communicate and play. In short, Jetpack is an API for allowing you to write Firefox add-ons using the web technologies you already know.

Responsibilities:
* Design and implement client and/or server software
* Analyze and tune software and architecture for optimal performance
* Collaborate with product leads and the broader community to establish product requirements and development plans
* Document and maintain unit and systems test frameworks
Requirements:
* MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience, user experience focus would be a plus
* Deep familiarity and background in Web technologies, including HTML, CSS and Javascript
* Design sense for developing humane User Interfaces
* Leading or contributing to one or more successful Open Source projects
* Ability to work with a geographically distributed development team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Works effectively in a fast-paced, start-up environment
