Jobvite Blog: Today’s Recruiting Trends

Jobvite is Moving!

For the past 4 1/2 years, Jobvite has called Burlingame our home base. I personally have many great memories of our time there—games with coworkers, lunches out, brainstorming sessions that resulted in some really innovative ideas for the company. A person can get tied to a place after a while.

But, as many homeowners can relate, sometimes you grow a little too big for your space. You need something different, something that fits your changing style.

That’s why we’re happy to announce that Jobvite is on the move. Not far from our current offices—about five miles down the road in beautiful San Mateo. But because our new space started out as nothing but exterior walls, sort of like a blank canvas, we have been able to completely reconstruct the inside to suit our needs.

We’re still knee-deep in the renovations, doing everything from raising ceilings to adding electrical and plumbing—and as you can imagine, it’s been quite a journey. I’ve been helping with the process, along with other Jobvite employees, and I can tell you that pulling together a brand new office space is far more difficult than designing your own home. I did that a few years back, and while it was also challenging, I only needed to please myself and my family. Here, at our new building, every decision needs to be for the good of our company as a whole. Talk about teamwork! We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far—in fact, we’re posting weekly pics of our new digs, so you can track our progress.

The new Jobvite headquarters, like our old space, is conveniently located by Caltrain, making commutes from both San Francisco and San Jose just as easy as they were before. We’re also next to a major downtown area, so our employees have walkable access to great food and other amenities.  We’ve even purchased bikes (or “Jobikes” as we call them) so employees can quickly get downtown.

We’re excited to get moved in, head down the home stretch, and finish this project. It’s been crazy busy around here (as usual), but always fun. I like to think of it as one more perk to working for Jobvite. There’s never a dull moment!
