Jobvite Blog: Today’s Recruiting Trends

Yes, You Can Make REAL Connections at a Virtual Event — Here’s How!

The countdown is on! Just a couple more days until Recruiter Nation Live 2020, this year’s can’t-miss event for recruiters and talent acquisition pros.

If you’ve checked out the agenda, you already know the content is going to be amazing. No matter your role, you’ll find sessions to inspire you and elevate your 2021 planning. But conferences are also about meeting new people and making new connections. Is that really possible at an online event?

You bet it is!

We’ve infused RNL ‘20 with loads of opportunities to interact with your peers, get to know each other, and create relationships that last long after the conference ends. Just like a live conference, it’s all about taking advantage of those opportunities.

Here’s a run-down of some ways you can make REAL connections at this unique virtual event.

1. Introduce yourself!

When you activate your account on the RNL ‘20 platform, you’ll have a chance to create a personal profile. Of course this includes the basics like your name, job title, and interests, but we wanted to make things a little more personal. So we’re giving everyone the opportunity to record a Hello RNL video introduction, to share some fun facts about yourself and let people get to know you. You can make it as unique and clever as you like — we’ll even provide a few suggestions.

2. Share a good story.

Trading work stories over a cocktail is one of the best parts of any conference. While we can’t quite replicate that experience, we’ve created a way to share some of your favorite stories with your RNL peers. When you complete your event profile, you can use the Recruiter Riffs section to create a video about a memorable recruiting experience, your most unique interview question, or even your best memory from past RNL events.

3. Check out the guest list.

The RNL website includes a complete Attendee Directory, so you can check out who else is attending. Don’t be shy! With a single click, you can connect with people in your industry and those who share your interests. You can even invite them to join a personal roundtable. (More on that in #6 below.) If you’d prefer to keep your profile hidden, just turn on the incognito mode in the upper right corner of the profile page.

4. Enjoy a little friendly competition.

Throughout RNL ‘20, you’ll have a chance to earn points and badges for your participation — from attending sessions and asking questions to joining roundtable discussions and visiting our sponsors. Earn enough points and you’ll be entered into the Jobvite Jackpot for a chance to win incredible prizes, including gift cards, a standing desk, or even a Peloton bike! You can even track your progress in real time on the RNL website leaderboard. Why not create a friendly challenge among your new connections to see who can earn the most points? Earn your first set of points when you complete your Hello RNL video, above in #1!

5. Join the conversation.

We’ve got some of the best minds in the industry speaking at RNL ‘20, and we want to give you a chance to ask them all of your burning questions. So, we’ve reserved a full 10 minutes at the end of each session for rapid-fire Q&A. Check out the agenda, have some questions in mind, and get involved! You’ll earn points for participation, and your question might even spark a conversation in one of those roundtables we keep mentioning.

6. Attend a roundtable — or create your own!

Finally, the roundtables! Following the fireside chat with Jobvite CEO Aman Brar, you’ll have a chance to join more than 25 live networking roundtables hosted by Jobvite moderators. Roundtable discussions will cover a variety of topics, including recruiting in healthcare, AI and automation, data-driven recruiting, and much more. You can also visit each of our sponsors to learn about their products or open a personal roundtable at any time with the people of your choosing, to discuss the topics that interest you most!

If you haven’t already registered for RNL ‘20, there’s still time! Then join us for a free, fast-paced afternoon of education, inspiration, and connection on Thursday, December 10. We hope to see you there!
